An integral part of cultivating a global mindset and attitude of servant leadership requires that we leave the comforts of home in order to experience a humble wonder. Films, books, and classes—cannot substitute the learning that transcends authentic cultural immersion. Take it from a former anthropology major, when we leave what we think we know and travel outside ourselves, we are more apt to listen, empathize, and passionately advocate from a place of shared humanity. The best way to try and walk in someone else's shoes is to first stand in solidarity under the same sky.
